(Not-for-profit organizations only please.) In most cases your info will be posted within a few business days of receiving it. Notice of Public Hearing - Town Manager's Recommended Budget FY 2027

TOWN OF SMITHFIELD, R.I.

BUDGET & FINANCIAL REVIEW BOARD

PUBLIC HEARING ON THE TOWN MANAGER RECOMMENDED BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027

THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2026 AT 6:00 PM

The meeting will be held at the Town Council Chambers of the Smithfield Town Hall - 64 Farnum Pike Smithfield, RI 02917 

The Town of Smithfield proposes to increase its property tax levy to $64,897,772 in the 2026-2027 budget year; the property tax levy this year is $62,733,891. THIS IS A PROPOSED INCREASE OF 3.45%.

The increase in the proposed tax levy will result in a property tax rate of $12.49 for residential real estate per $1,000 of assessed valuation, as compared to the current property tax rate of $12.39 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, and $21.77 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for commercial and industrial, as compared to the current property tax rate of $18.58 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. 

The FY 2026-2027 tangible personal property levy includes taxes on tangible personal property at the rate of $59.74 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, as comparted to the current tax rate of $59.74 per assessed value.
