Underground Storage Tank (UST) Removal Permit Requirements

A Fire Department permit is required for the removal of any underground fuel storage tank from a residential or commercial property. The permit fee is $75.00 per tank and includes application review, coordination, documentation review, and a site inspection by the Fire Department.

The property owner shall provide the anticipated tank removal date and the name of the contractor performing the work. The Fire Department shall be notified prior to tank removal so that an inspection may be conducted during the removal process.

For commercial properties, all applicable DEM documentation shall be submitted with the permit application. Leased tanks shall be removed by the fuel supplier. Owned tanks shall be removed by a qualified contractor hired by the property owner.

Final approval is contingent upon successful inspection and receipt of any required documentation associated with the tank removal.
