BULK TRASH & BULK METAL COLLECTION

Effective July 1, 2026, bulk item and metal/appliance collection will move to a user fee system with monthly collections and no item limit.

Collection Fee: $32 per item (7/1/26–6/30/27)

Payment is required at time of scheduling which must be completed before 11 AM the day prior to pick-up day.

A $1.99 convenience fee applies to credit card and digital payments: no fee for bank (ACH) payments.

Items must be placed curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day.

**Cancellations must be made by 12:00 PM the day before to receive a refund; please call 800-972-4545.

 Not all items can be accepted through curbside bulk collection.  Below are some items not collected curbside.  Other exceptions may apply:

• Mattresses/ box springs - accepted at special events, by appointment.  Mattresses and box springs must be clean and dry.  Call 401-233-1034 x205 for more information and options.
• Construction debris - windows, doors, toilets, sinks, wood boards, drywall, sizing, flooring, fencing and other items that are attached to a home/building.
• Electronics - accepted by appointment at Smithfield DPW.  Includes: televisions, computer monitors, tablets, computer towers, laptops, just about anything with a cord.  Exclusions for drop-off are items containing coolant, wood encased speakers and laser printers.  Call 401-233-1034 x205 to see if item qualifies and to make an appointment for a drop-off.
• Tires - accepted by appointment at Smithfield DPW and/or special events. Tires must be rimless.
• Empty propane tanks - accepted by appointment at Smithfield DPW.
• Large rigid plastics - accepted by appointment at Smithfield DPW.  Must be made completely of plastic, larger than a hard hat, smaller than a 95-gallon sized trash cart.  Common items are storage containers larger than 5 gallons, laundry baskets, upright plastic furniture and trash barrels.  No PVC pipes, siding, or fencing.  Call 401-233-1034 X205 to see if item qualifies and to make an appointment for drop-off.
• Hazardous Waste - accepted at RIRRC Eco Depot Events.  Call- 942-1430 x241
